Tuscan Coffee is one of my favorite coffee indulgences.  It has the deep rich flavors of roasted Italian style coffee and brandy, contrasted with the freshness of lemon rind.  Tuscany is a beautiful place to travel with its rolling hills and vineyards.  Wonderful wines come to mind when thinking of Tuscany but the coffee is also excellent.  Italian coffee tends to be very dark and rich like their espressos.  This coffee captures the atmosphere of Tuscany.  Italian brandy is recommend but any brand you have on hand will be good. Then top it off with cream and you have a coffee any Café would be proud of.

To make this you will need the rind of a lemon.  Be careful not to grate in the white part since it can be bitter.  A good Italian brandy would be ideal but any brandy will do.  As for the type of sugar I would recommend, I find it tastes best with brown sugar, turbinado, or rock sugar.  If you are wondering what rock sugar is it is a type of sugar that looks like chunks of candy sugar that is added to tea thoughout Europe.  It has a neutral flavor with caramel undertones.  Rock sugar is delicious in any beverage that you add sugar to.  To finish add half and half and top it with whipped cream.

  1. Brew the espresso with the water.
  2. Add the lemon rind, sugar, and half and half cream. Stir well and reheat if needed.
  3. Strain and add the brandy.
  4. Optional top with whipped cream.
